Overview

Trop mignon ! L'art du bonheur (So Cute! The Art of Happiness), Musée du Louvre-Lens, Lens, France, September 23, 2026 – January 18, 2027.

The Musée du Louvre-Lens presents Trop mignon !

L'art du bonheur, a major international exhibition exploring the multifaceted aesthetic of the "cute," the joyful, and the emotionally resonant across art history. Bringing together nearly 300 works-spanning ancient antiquities, classical masterpieces, and radical contemporary expressions-the exhibition examines how visual culture evokes joy, empathy, and comfort as an active site of human connection.

Included in this historical survey is Dogstar Light

(2023), a collaborative work by cultural icon, Parliament-Funkadelic leader, and Afrofuturist visual artist George Clinton alongside graffiti artist Jona Cerwinske. Rendered in bold, spontaneous spray lines, deep charcoal forms, and a shimmering constellation of glitter, the piece introduces an extra-dimensional, cosmic creature that embodies raw playfulness and uninhibited optimism.

Situated within the walls of the Louvre-Lens, Clinton's work demonstrates how the "cute" serves not merely as superficial charm, but as a vibrant frequency-a cosmic vehicle capable of transcending traditional artistic hierarchies, demystifying the canvas, and radiating unconditional joy across time and space.

Trop mignon ! L'art du bonheur (So Cute! The Art of Happiness) will be on view in France, from September 23, 2026 – January 18, 2027.
